Christmas 2011 / New Year train disruptions
Kiwirail & Auckland Transport are doing some major works on Auckland's rail network over the Christmas - New Year period. Replacement rail bus services will be provided, except on Christmas Day. Rail line closures:
• Saturday 17 December and Sunday 18 December – Waitakere to Britomart, Papakura to Britomart via Newmarket, Onehunga to Britomart, and Papakura to Otahuhu.
• Monday 19 to Saturday 24 December – Newmarket to Britomart.
• Christmas Day – Full network closure, no buses replacing trains.
• Monday 26 December to Tuesday 4 January 2012 – Full network closure, buses replace all trains.
• Wednesday 5 to Sunday 15 January 2012 – Newmarket to Britomart and Papakura to Britomart via Glen Innes.
• Monday 16 to Wednesday 18 January 2012 – Newmarket to Britomart.
The new Onehunga Line links Onehunga directly by train to Britomart in downtown Auckland.
From Onehunga, trains stop at Te Papapa, Penrose, Ellerslie, Greenlane, Remuera and Newmarket stations before arriving at Britomart (downtown Auckland).
Trains from Britomart to Onehunga run every half hour in peak times (6.15am - 9.15am and 2.45pm - 7.15pm), and every hour in between peak times and over the weekends. The trains stop running earlier on Sundays and Public Holidays.

Onehunga is very well serviced by buses to many parts of Auckland.
