OBA Management

Governance: The OBA Committee

The OBA is incorporated under the Societies Act 1908 and is governed according to its constitution: Rules of the Onehunga Business Association Inc. Business Improvement District.

The OBA is governed by a committee comprising 5 to 9 elected OBA members and a representative of the Maungakiekie-Tamaki Local Board.

The OBA's committee sets strategy, approves budgets, ensures that member funds are properly invested towards meeting OBA objectives, and ensures that OBA management meets agreed performance objectives.

The OBA's committee holds 11 monthly meetings at the OBA office (there is no meeting in January), and an Annual General Meeting is held around August/ September each year, at which time  a new committee is elected by the members.

The elected Committee votes itself a President, a Vice President, and a Secretary, and appoints a member as Treasurer.

OBA Management

The day-to-day operations of the OBA are administered by the Town Manager, Amanda Kinzett  (ph 636 8535, business@onehunga.net.nz) assisted by a Projects Co-ordinator.

The Manager's responsibilities include economic development, marketing and promotion, urban design and heritage conservation.

Key aspects include maintaining the security of the area (an extensive network of CCTVs was installed in 2011), liasing with businesses and community groups, and lobbying with Government, Council and Local Board for improvements to the area.
